Jake Norwood argued and won summary judgment in a recent case in Calhoun County. Plaintiff alleged that Jake’s client, a local retailer, had him falsely arrested after he was observed by security personnel “sticker swapping” (removing a sticker from a more expensive item and replacing it with a sticker from a less expensive item).  Plaintiff alleged that he was cognitively impaired and confused by the Defendant’s self-checkout process. Jake argued the motion for summary judgment in front of the judge last month. The judge found that Jake’s clients were not liable for false arrest, false imprisonment, or negligent and wanton conduct. Plaintiff’s claims were dismissed in their entirety.
